Painting With Light Explanation

Electric Rain

For this photograph I had my roommate Whitney stand as still as possible in front of a black backdrop in my our living room. While Whitney stood as if she were stomping a puddle of water I used a strobe to highlight her. Then I took a pole with blue Christmas lights stung across it and had my roommate Jenny turn on and off the lights to make the raindrops as I started from the top of the frame going to the bottom. Then I took a white flashlight to paint in the water puddle. My camera was set and bulb and the entire process took about 67 seconds.

Untouchable Teddy Bear

I made this teddy bear from a gallon sized pickle jar and five light bulbs. I flashed the bear with a red strobe, then lit the orange Christmas lights that are inside the bear for about one second to get the glow inside the bear. Then I painted the face and arms with a white flashlight and also did some swirls with the flashlight also. The entire process took 10 seconds.
